King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University Invited to Participate in the First Academic Forum for Undergraduates in Arabic


On September 24, 2022, King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University was invited to participate in the first academic forum for undergraduates of Arabic language at Peking University. Librarian Linan He gave a presentation on "Overview of Resources and Services" and held the award ceremony for essays on the theme of "Me and the Saudi Branch". Nearly 100 students and teachers, mainly undergraduates from the Arabic Department of Peking University and representatives from four universities in Beijing, attended the event.

In order to strengthen the cultural exchange between China and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to help readers develop good reading habits and receive better services, the library held an essay competition on the theme of "Me and the Saudi Branch Library". The essay competition attracted many teachers and students, and after several rounds of judging, a total of seven first, second and third places were selected, and an award ceremony was held on 24 September. Deputy Director Abed, Zhang Meiping and Professor Fu Zhiming, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Director of the Arabic Studies Centre of the Branch Library, presented certificates and prizes to the third, second and first prize winners respectively.

The event strengthened the communication between the branch library and the Department of Arabic, deepened the understanding of the branch library's collection and services by the teachers and students, and initiated a service model combining cultural activities and subject services.
