    King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University

    Literature & Resources Donation Method

    King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University (“Library Branch”) welcomes the donation of literature & resources by faulty, staff and students and people in and outside of PKU. We hereby kindly inform the donors that, due to limited collection scope and space, the Library Branch may decide which kind of the donated literature & resources will be accepted.

    I. Scope of Accepting Literature & Resources Donation

    1. Literature & resources that are in conformity with the rules and regulations of the  Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China and other relevant laws;

    2. Literature & resources that are within the collection and resource development scope of the Library Branch;

    3. In principle, the donated literature & resources should be official publications. Informal publications with higher academic or collection value shall be accepted as appropriate. We also accept digital resources with domestic sales or distribution license that could be used under the existing technical or campus network environment;

    4. Periodicals that are not available in the Library Branch (including online editions) and can be donated in sets or in a continuous manner;

    5. We accept donations including celebrities’ calligraphy, paintings, manuscripts, letters, works of art, instruments and equipment, etc. The donated objects should have certain collection or practical value.

    II. Approach of Accepting Literature & Resources Donation

    1. Issue Donation Certificate

    · For the literature & resources published by the official publishing institutions in China, a donation certificate shall be issued to the donor after registration;

    · For the literature & resources published by domestic informal publishing institutions and those donated by mail from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas (excluding bulk donation and precious donation prompted by the Library Branch), the Personal Information Registration Form of the Donor (click to download) should be filled in and submitted, and then a donation certificate will be issued to the donor;

    2. As soon as the donated literature & resources are accepted, all related rights and interests such as ownership and disposal rights shall belong to the Library Branch;

    3. Due to limited collection space, there is no special shelf for donated books in principle. The works of teachers, students and alumni of Peking University will be included in the “KAPL Featured Collections”, and copies will be stored in the relevant reading area for readers.

    III. How to Donate?

    1. The donors from PKU can send the books directly to room 207 of King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University; if there are a large number of books to be donated, please contact the Library Branch which will send people to fetch the books;;

    2. Donors can also send the books by express mail to the address: Room 207, King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University, 5 Yiheyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing (100871);;

    3. For all donors, please contact the Library Branch before donating.
