On the morning of 13 October 2019, the annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Chinese Arabic Literature and the Seminar on Translation and Research of Arabic Literature in New China were held at the King Abdulaziz Public Library Branch in Peking University. During the conference, the Society for the Study of Arabic Literature was re-elected for a new term. Lin Fengmin of the Arabic Department of Peking University was elected as the new President, Xue Qingguo of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Zong Xiaofei of the Institute of Foreign Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zou Lanfang of the University of International Business and Economics, Lu Yiwei of Shanghai Foreign Studies University and Luo Lin of Beijing Language and Culture University were elected as Vice-Presidents, and Zong Xiaofei was appointed as Secretary General. Lin Fengmin, Cai Weiliang, Zhang Hongyi and Ge Tieying were retained as executive directors. Lu Peiyong, Gan Lijun, Jin Zhongjie and Chen Jie were added as executive directors. Li Yuejin, Wang Hongbo, Lian Chaoqun, Chen Zheng, Wei Qirong, Qian Ailin, Li Pei, Wu Hao, Ren Hongzhi, Huo Na and Yang Xue were added as council members. The Council also decided to employ You Mei and Lin Zhe as Deputy Secretaries-General to assist the Secretary-General in handling the day-to-day affairs of the Society. Newly elected President Lin Fengmin announced the continued appointment of Professor Zhong Zhongkun of Peking University as Honorary President.
